Director of Performing Arts
The Town of Petrolia is nestled in the heart of Southwestern Ontario’s Lambton County and framed by Lake Huron and the St. Clair River. The community’s commitment to the preservation of its unique history and to the advancement of the arts is reflected in the elegantly restored Victoria Playhouse, a professional theatre and cultural centrepiece that energizes its citizens and inspires it countless visitors.
As a member of the Senior Management Team and reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this “Hands On” Manager, will assume responsibility for the management of the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia.
A degree in arts administration or successful completion of courses in business practices in the arts including fundraising, marketing, personnel management and financial management will have prepared you for this position.
Other qualifications will include experience working in a senior position in a performing arts organization; direct experience programming culture-specific work and collaborating with members of different cultural communities; grant submissions and fundraising; knowledge of the performing arts community locally and nationally; experience presenting events to the public and marketing to diverse audiences; knowledge of standard accounting procedures and practices; experience supporting career development for emerging artists; experience hiring and supervising staff.
Candidates with five or more years at a senior management level within the performing arts sector and appropriate qualifications are encouraged to apply.
