Museum exhibition focuses on Niagara on the Lake’s Villages

Much of what we know about Niagara on the Lake pertains to the “Old Town”; that is, the township of Niagara on the Lake, with its own unique history, events and people, often gets forgotten. The village communities that make up the rural township have unique stories that have shaped their development and the people who live there. What makes each village distinct, what are the challenges they face and what does the future hold…

Sir Isaac Brock was a person who, as far as we know, only sat to have his portrait painted twice during his lifetime. A small miniature was painted when he was about 16 years old. Later, while he was stationed in Canada, he sat for the itinerant artist, Gerritt Schipper sometime between 1807 and 1810, likely either in Montreal or Quebec City. Treasured Legacy: More than 100 years of Greeks in Niagara
